Colt's Pre-War 32 Police Positive "Special Target" Revolver

with factory a original hinged or flip top box, and paperwork included

This beautiful vintage double action colt revolver has a 6 inch barrel chambered for Colt's .32 Police cartridge, a cylinder that holds six rounds, a stationary patridge front and fully adjustable rear target sights, blued finish except for the factory finished polished trigger, and a beautiful pair of molded Gutta Purcha or hard rubber grips. The revolvers condition is superb, with a perfect bore & cylinder chambers, and it functions just like new. The revolvers factory original box shows some shelf wear that was probably due to storage in a safe, but over-all has weathered the years fairly well, and has all the original paperwork. This is a "Very Rare" and hard to find Colt in this configuration, along with the original booklets, and original factory box. I'm sure this little beauty will be a very good investment piece.

Rare Pre-War Colt .38 Official Police " King Super Target" Revolver

We have for sale a rare & seldom encountered Pre War Colt Official Police .38 Heavy Barrel custom target double action revolver upgraded to a Colt/King Super Target model by the King Gun Sight Co. This beautiful revolver bearing serial number 633XXX was shipped July 26, 1938 to Powell & Clement Co. of Cincinnati OH. This information was obtained thru the Colt Archives Service with a genuine Colt Factory Historical Letter that is still in process. This is a rare find for the serious Colt collector! This beautiful vintage Colt King Super Target is just like new. The revolver was manufactured by Colt, and retains all of its factory original blued metal finish throughout with just a hint of wear to just a few of the high points & sharp edges, of coarse the King Conversion parts were all supplied by King Gun Sight Company and were finished by them to Colt specs.a beautiful match. Regardless you will find it near impossible to upgrade. The bore is like a mirror and the revolver functions just like new. Actually the action has been worked by King and is better than new, and very smooth Magnificent gun!!! Here is a little history on these fine target guns for those who may be less familiar. The base weapon for this special build is a Colt Official Police Revolver that was chambered for .38 Special cartridges. It wears a 6” Heavy Barrel and all original blued metal finish throughout. The gun was 1 of 2 in the same shipment to the Powell & Clement Co. William Powell & Son Guns & Gunsmiths was located on Main St. in Cincinnati OH. The firm began business about 1875. John B. Clement then bought partnership in the firm about 1883 changing the name to the Powell & Clement Co. and later Powell & Clement Sporting Goods. The firm closed in 1963. This revolver was sold by them, and apparently was shipped after leaving Colt to the Dean W. King Gun Sight Co. of San Francisco CA. for the target upgrades. The King Gun Sight Co. was famous for its superior target sights, custom action modifications, and upgrades to both single & double action revolvers and automatic pistols. The King name and their top quality upgrades were considered to be the finest upgrades of their time. Therefore King gun sights and custom upgraded firearms are highly sought after by today’s collectors. The revolver seen here wears a complete Colt/King Super Target conversion package. Each King conversion was done to the buyers specifications. This revolvers upgrades are as follows. King elevated ventilated barrel rib, undercut front sight blade, Adjustable rear sight, with square notch blade. Checkered back strap, checkered trigger, checkered target hammer, and very unique reground cylinder lock notches to ease and speed up cylinder rotation. And to top off this fine conversion a superbly tuned action job, and last but not least the awesome grips… It is difficult to say who made the grips, but they were masters in there trade. The right hand panel is checkered in the manner of Factory done Fleur de lis pattern grips with scalloped edges plus arrows in the checkering. The opposite side is a thumb rest style designed for a right hand shooter, with the initials “JM” checkered in as an inlay. Then in the front of the grips are two matching inlayed areas of fine detailed checkering. This checkering matches perfectly with the grips mounted to the gun. In fact with the grips on the gun you see no definitive line in the front within the checkering that would indicate the grips are two pieces. Expert craftsmanship! And to complete the package is a Colt factory original hinged lid box with a correct end label matching this gun. Inside is an original Shooting Suggestions brochure as well. The Box is in great condition with a good hinge. This is a rarely seen and very desirable top condition Colt that has been perfectly preserved for 70+ years.

"Rare" Pre-War Colt Shooting Master chambered in 357 Magnum

Only 500 revolvers produced in this caliber !

This is a rare and very desirable "Special Order" Colt 357 Shooting Master revolver chambered in the rarely encountered 357 Magnum caliber with a Square Butt frame. A very collectable and special gun! This fine vintage revolver was manufactured in 1937. It is all factory original condition showing only careful signs of actual use. The revolver retains nearly all of its original high luster blue finish throughout with the only signs of loss being some high edge wear to the frame area and to the top of the frame just behind the hammer, trigger guard, and a few light handling marks. Regardless this nice vintage pre-war target revolver still presents itself beautifully… The gun has been fired, but was very well cared for. The bore is bright, and the revolver functions excellent! Now folks a little background history for those less familiar with the Shooting Master Model. It was Colt’s top of the line large frame target revolver specially redesigned with a more straight tapered or (round butt style) frame for better fit and feel in the shooters hand. Keep in mind folks this particular revolver is a 357 Magnum Square Butt design! This series of revolvers in 357 Magnum Caliber with Square Butt were Special Order Only. Each revolver was hand fitted and every part of each action was hand honed for smoothness & accuracy. Apparently alot of shooters at the time found the standard large frame New Service Square Butt Target models a bit difficult to get a good grip for target shooting thus asking Colt to design a new lighter style Shooting Master Target Revolver line. Only 3500 Shooting Master revolvers in all calibers were produced and all were standard with the newly improved round butt frame exclusive to the Shooting Master revolvers. The .38 S&W Special cartridge was the standard Caliber for the Shooting Master line, with 357 Magnum, .44 Special, 45 ACP & Long Colt being optional special order calibers. "Only 500 Shooting Masters chambered in 357 Magnum were ever manufactured". The Shooting Master models were all based on the New Service frame, but all standard Shooting Master revolvers were fitted round butt frames exclusive to that model only. Only by “Special Order only” could you obtain a 357 Magnum “Square Butt” Shooting Master like this one. That makes this beautiful vintage Colt Shooting Master "very special and very rare". The Shooting Master revolvers all had matted top straps and upper grip frames to reduce glare, with checkered grip frames both front and back, and a checkered target trigger as well. This revolver also was ordered with a factory patridge style front sight, and a square notch rear sight. The beautiful Walnut checkered grips are in great condition with sharp checkering and are properly numbered to the revolver. We feel it would be very difficult to replace this Rare special order revolver with another in this condition. This nice vintage Colt is 75 years old and counting… If you collect fine Colt firearms or just fancy great target revolvers this is a must have gun for your collection. With only 500 guns ever being produced, just how many in this exact configuration could have ever been ordered, and just how many of those few may exist today?
